The Sega Master System is an 8bit video games console which used cartridges as the game media which was released in 1986.
It was the first games console to have a startup screen which is now common practise in all of the latest games consoles like Xbox 360 and PS3.
The Master System 2 came with a built in game which was called Alex Kidd and played when you started up the system and did not have a games cartridge entered.
Some of the most famous Master System Games are Sonic The Hedgehog and Super Hang On.
